Clarence E. Barnum, 77, of 67 Kirkham Pl., Newington, died Tuesday at the East Hartford Convalescent Hospital. Born in New Marlboro, Mass., he lived in Newington for the past 20 years. He was employed by Cornell University for 32 years before his retirement 20 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. He leaves five brothers, Llewellyn Barnum of Newington, Harold Barnum of Westfield, Mass., Bethuel Barnum of Housatonic, Mass., Crafton Barnum of New York state and Milton Barnum of Sheffield, Mass., and a sister, Mrs. Louis Leffingwell of Canaan. The funeral will be Friday with Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Great Barrington, Mass. (Hartford Courant, Connecticut, January 2, 1969, Thursday)
