Arthur T. Loring, 87, of Arcata died late Friday night following a lengthy illness. Born April 30, 1873, in English Lake, Indiana, he had been a grocer in Chicago, for Ill., for 14 years and until his retirement 12 years ago, he was a salesman for the Nabisco Biscuit Company. He came to this area eight years ago.

He was a member of the Masonic Order in Chicago, Ill., for 53 years, a member of the United Commercial Travelers Clubs of Iron Mountain, Michigan, for 35 years, and the Royal Arch Masons, the Commandry and the Shrine in Chicago.

He was the father of Robert Nathan Loring, and is survived by his wife, Nellie M. Loring and son, Arthur Loring, Jr.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Paul's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Barrett officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Preston Castner, Walter Derry, Fred Baker, Pete Sacchi, Sam Beer and D. H. Ford. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Sorenson and Loren Bunker.

Arthur married Nellie Mae Walknetz on August 20, 1903 in South Haven, Michigan. They had two sons, Arthur Theodore Loring, Jr. and Robert Nathan Loring.

Sadly, Arthur Jr. died in Chicago, Illinois, on November 24, 1906, at the age of 8 months and 15 days. He was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
