Sergeant Charles Wendell Jennings was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SGT Jennings served our country until April 27th, 1969 in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was not married. It was reported that Charles died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a land mine. His body was recovered. Charles was born on October 22nd, 1948 in Cullowhee, North Carolina. SGT Jennings is on panel 26W, line 063 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

We met in Basic and Infantry Training and ended up in the same outfit in Vietnam. I was there the night he made the supreme sacrifice for our country. I will always remember him as a friend and true hero. Ralph(BUCK)Buchanan

He is my first cousin: I remember little of you growing up, but we both went, and only I came back. As the years go by and fewer choose to serve, only we who did will know what what it cost. I keep in touch with your Mother and I know you are joined now with your Dad. I will keep the family remembering. Your Cousin, Herb Johnson, CWO4(HC)USN Ret, Echo 2/12, 3rd MARDIV FMF Da Nang 66/67.

My name is Terry Harrison and I entered the 25th Infantry Division, Bravo Company 2/12 with Chuck. Larry Goldsmith was the third person who entered the same day with Chuck and myself. Since Chuck and I were the new guys we would get stuck doing all the new guys nasty duties. But We had fun doing it together and it helped to pass the time. Chuck and I were both wounded on the same night in late September when we were mortared by the VC. Neither of us were hurt real bad but it introduced us to "The Nam". I still think about him and find it hard to believe that it has been more than 30 years. Losing him was such a waste as were the other casualties. He will be remembered in my prayers until I breath my last. I would like to know what happened to his child if possible. Thank You to all the people who made this possible. Terry Harrison.

We were Friends and Brother-in-Arms-B Company, 2/12Inf, 25th ID. We spent lots of time together,it really hurt when I had to load your lifeless body, on that chopper, with the other 8 KIA's. That was one of the darkest days of my life, There was DEATH everywhere, GI's and NVA. You were always so full of life, I'll always remember you. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND, Dan Marquardt, N6894 River Road, Wittenberg, WI 54499.

Just thinking about the firefight today that took his life. It was the night of April 27,1969. One week from today and it was a big one. 9 men died that night including our Commander and Charles was his RTO. I thought we were all goners but a calm came over and a voice seemed to say I would be OK but it would be rough and we began to drive them back as they had broken our little company size perimeter and were on the inside. Ralph (BUCK) Buchanan.

He served with Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Silver Star Medal, The Bronze Star Medal, Twice awarded The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
