Leroy Hanke, age 87, of Salem, formerly of Carlyle, passed away Sunday, February 19th, 2017, at Doctor's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant serving on the front lines during theKorean Conflict.
Leroy Hanke was born on October 8th, 1929 at home in Clement Township, Clinton County. His parents were Louis and Anna (Hugo) Hanke.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Anna Hanke; three brothers: Walter Hanke and wife Olinda; Edwin Hanke and Ralph Hanke; two sisters: Edna Meentemeyer and husband Norman and Frieda Michael and husband Alfred; father and mother-in-law: Elmer A. Dorries and wife Millie; brother-in-law: Elmer C. 'Bud' Dorries and wife Loretta and Delmar Dorries (infant) and grandson: Mark Hollenkamp (infant).
Internment will be at Paradise Cemetery in Salem.
