The Oklahoman, Saturday, Aug 9, 1947:
Rev. John A. Wright, St John's Episcopal Church, will officiate at private services for J. R. Adkisson, retired cotton broker, who died Thursday night at his home, 1442 NW 38. The services will be 10:30 am Saturday in the Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. The family requests no flowers.

Deaths Section:
Survivors include: his wife; one brother, D. R. Adkisson, Hearne, TX; three sisters, Mrs J. Henry Phillips and Miss Alice Adkisson, Dallas; and Mrs James H. Munroe, Temple, TX. Services for immediate family only will be in Smith & Kernke Mortuary, Saturday 10:30 am. Interment Rose Hill.
