Arthur enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 20 September 1915. He served as a Gunner (Service No. 2145) with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment in Egypt, France and Belgium. He returned to Australia on 25 January 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 19 May 1919. Arthur died aged 82 years.
