In early childhood, she with her parents came to Jones Co., IA, and then to Cass Co., where she grew to womanhood. There she was married to J.L. Ingraham, Sept. 18, 1881.
Nine children were born to this union -- seven of whom are living. They are C.S. Ingraham of Clarinda, C.C. Ingraham of St. Joseph, MO, Mrs. Elizabeth Shockey of Chariton, IA, Mrs. Emma Pennington of Murray, IA, Mrs. Amy Lines, Mrs. Sadie Foster, and Mrs. Jessie Russell, all of Clarinda, IA. An infant daughter died in 1898, and Effie, 11 years of age, passed away in 1901. The father and husband departed this life June 17, 1930.
Now the wife and mother, the last of a family of seven children has passed into the unseen world.
Early in life she became a member of the Methodist church. She held membership also in the Rebekah Lodge. She was of a kindly disposition, modest, retiring and a maker of many friends and commonly known as Mother Ingraham.
In addition to the living mentioned, she leaves 12 grandchildren, many relatives and numerous friends.
Funeral service at the residence, 416 West Stuart, Sunday, January 28 at 2 PM. Rev. B. F. Hall officiating.
Mrs. Doris Forbes and Aletha Hutchings, with Mary Ruth Good, accompaniest sang two appropriate numbers.
Pallbearers: Vern Carmichael, Oscar Anderson, Oliver Gorrell, Harry Hale, Frank Harris, Henry Logan. Interment in the Clarinda cemetery.
The out-of-town visitors for the funeral were C.B. Michaels, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dreager and son Donald, of Cumberland, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Davis of Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Michaels of Cumberland, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Michaels and son Junior, of Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davis of Grant, Mrs. Lester Smith of Grant, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Shockey and children of Chariton, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ingraham and Gladys of St. Joseph, MO, Mrs. Emma Pennington and children of Murray.
