Mary was the youngest daughter of the late Lyda and Mamie Smith Young. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Cecil Young; and three sisters, Louise Whitted, Marie Fletcher and Pansy Medford. She was a long term member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Clyde.
She is survived by her son, Richard Rose and wife, Debra, of Germantown, Tennessee; a daughter, Karen Rose of Pittsboro, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Kristin Rose of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jenna Gunter and husband, Alan, of Richmond Hill, Georgia; one brother, Benny Young and wife, Ruth, of Clyde; one sister, Polly Hall of Asheville; two great-grandchildren, Kaylan and Preston Gunter.
