OBITUARY.

JOSEPH T. EVANS, M. D.

Dr. Joseph T. Evans died in his home, at No. 36 East Thirty-first street, yesterday morning, aged sixty-eight years. He was born in Onondaga county in 1813. He came to this city about 1847, practised medicine in the Seventh ward for thirteen years, part of which time he was associated with Dr. Freeman, and in 1860 moved into the neighborhood of Thirty-first street and Fifth avenue. For the ten years following he had a very large practice, at the height of which he was stricken down in 1870 with serious illness, the result of overwork. He did not recover his health, although he was under the care of experienced physicians. He made three trips to Europe for his health, and returned from the last one a year ago. Dr. Evans was an allopath until the cholera epidemic in this city about 1847, when he became a homœopath. His malady was bronchial consumption. He leaves a wife and two adult children. The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon.
