Larry Lee Allison

Larry Lee Allison, 73, passed away on September 9, 2016 in Broken Arrow.
Larry was born on September 28, 1942 in Tulsa, OK to the late Edgar and Marilyn Allison. He was the oldest of four children, Herb, Donna, and Edgar who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diana; his sons, David (Twila), Steve (Trish), Monte (Michara); his grandchildren, Brooke, Megan, Austin, Diana, Steve, Lauren, Josh, and Johnny, Stormey, and Dustin; and 14 great grandchildren.
He attended Central High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1960. Some of his greatest memories were playing baseball at Crutchfield Park in Tulsa.
Larry was a retired Captain of the Tulsa Fire Department, serving 16 years (1965-1981). Throughout his life he was a Coach to his sons, a Home Builder, Realtor, Land Developer, and so much more. He was an inspiring hard worker, spending many years working 17-hour days to provide everything and more for his wife and sons. Larry loved and valued his family more than anything in the world and had a heart bigger than his 6'4" stature stood.
He was a wonderful man of God, very proud of being a Catholic, and exceptionally proud of his hometown and community. He cherished getting to watch and cheer on his grandchildren in everything they did. He was without a doubt the loudest one in the crowd sporting a huge smile on his face. Through the years, he was the Broken Arrow Golf programs biggest fan when three of his grandchildren played for them, one currently in his last year. He was everyone's Big Pops. He would light up a room wherever he went. If you were down or having a rough time you could always count on him to be there to lift you up and turn it around. He was one of the funniest people you had ever known and will be remembered by his effortless ability to make any and everyone laugh and smile. I know wholeheartedly there is not one person who knew him whose life wasn't impacted.
Larry was tremendously loved and respected by all. There was not a stranger he wouldn't talk to, having the most outgoing and admirable personality. There is no one that could have been more treasured by his family. His legacy will undoubtedly live on forever. In our hearts he will be for eternity.
He was a lover of life, remarkable father, outstanding grandpa, and selfless friend.
We now have the most amazing guardian angel with us always.
Larry, Dad, Poppy, Big Al, Lawrence of BA we will see you again soon.
"Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery and today's a gift"
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9.
Visitation 6-9 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2016, with a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m., Monday, at Hayhurst Funeral Home.
