Donald L. Haley, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Springhill Village. Don was born July 2, 1931, in Clay County, to James Erwin and Elizabeth Erwin, he was later adopted by Lawrence and Nannie Haley. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, William Tabor. Don worked in and retired from insurance sales. He was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972, where he was the chaplain and was in charge of the funeral detail for many years. He also was a member of American Legion posts 46 and 104. Don liked to bowl and especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife, Sarah “Sally” Duke Haley, whom he married Nov. 4, 1951; two sons, Donald Kenneth Haley and wife Deah of Terre Haute, and Duke Clayton Haley and wife Amanda of Seminole, Okla.; one daughter, Martha Lynn Tabor of Terre Haute; one brother, Luther Erwin and a sister, Elizabeth Hardman, both of Brazil; 11 grandchildren, Spencer Haley, Isac Haley, Crystal Tingley, Jack Coale, Evan Coale, Lauran Kanengiser, Brook Thomas, Coty Gaskins, Haley Walker, Klein Haley and Broden Haley; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and noon until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, VFW Post 972 will be conducting graveside military services. The Rev. Bill Duke will be officiating. Online condolences may be made at:
