He served on the police department for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He also worked as a truck driver for Star Paper Tube and Penske Trucking. He was a member at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; three sons; John Bailey (Vickie), Jerry Bailey (Carlene) and Dennis Bailey and wife (Laurie); seven grandchildren.
Burial will be at Highland Burial Park.
