John Mason Bailey, age 85, former Captain of the Danville Police Department, passed away February 13, 2017. He is survived by his wife Bessie Mae Freeman Bailey. He was the son of the late William D. Bailey and Minnie Stephens Bailey.
He served on the police department for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He also worked as a truck driver for Star Paper Tube and Penske Trucking. He was a member at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; three sons; John Bailey (Vickie), Jerry Bailey (Carlene) and Dennis Bailey and wife (Laurie); seven grandchildren.
Burial will be at Highland Burial Park.
