Grace McKean Strand was finally taken into the loving arms of her husband, parents, brothers and sisters on Oct 11, 2003. The reunion was long in coming, but must be a wonderful thing to behold. Grace was born Dec 12, 1916 in Payson, UT to Pearl Sargent and David Emery McKean. She had two sisters, Edith (Hansen), Elva (Stringham); and two brothers, Emery, David McKean, all of whom preceded her in death. While growing up in Utah, her family moved several times. They lived in Birdseye, Payson, Salt Lake City and West Bountiful, UT. She graduated from South High School in 1937. Grace married Einar H. Strand on Nov 15, 1940. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. They made their homes in Arizona, California, Bountiful and West Bountiful. Grace leaves behind six children, Randy (Dott) Strand, Bountiful, Diana (Lanny) Tracym West Bountiful, Dixie (Layne) Heiner, Bountiful, Emery Strand, West Bountiful, Amy (Kerry) Strand-Johnson, Fremont, CA, Kay Strand, West Bountiful; eight wonderful grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved and of whom she was very proud. Grace was a very talented artist, who filled her and her children's homes with beautiful oil paintings, china and porcelain dolls. She loved to dance and she and Einar belonged to the Moonlighters Square Dance Club for many years. She was an avid genealogist, too, and belonged to the John Pack Camp of the DUP. Grace had many trials in her life, most of which came in the later years, but she managed to keep her sense of humor and kindness through it all. She will be sorely missed by many. Grace's funeral will be at the West Bountiful 9th Ward Chapel, 1930 N. 600 W, Wed. Oct 15, at 11 a.m. Friends and family may pay their respects at Russon Brothers Funeral Home, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, the night before 6-8 p.m. and 9:45-10:45 a.m. before the service on Wed. Grace will be interred at the Bountiful City Cemetery, at her husband's side.
