He was born on August 18, 1901 in Rockbridge County, a son of James E. and Annie (White) Gaylor. He was husband of Madge (Hayes) Gaylor.
Gaylor was a member of Ferebee Halstead United Methodist Church, John Walters Royal Arch chapter 68 and had been a member of Masonic Lodge 266.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Anne Hayes Anderson of California; one sister, Lula V. Chittum of Lexington; one brother, Hunter Gaylor of Florida; two grandchildren.
A service was conducted Saturday at Ferebee Halstead United Methodist Church, with burial in Rosewood Masonic Memorial Park in Virginia Beach.
