Margaret “Meg” Salter Goodman, 69, of Mooresville, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Twin Lakes Community in Burlington. Born August 18, 1947, in Alma, GA, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Smith Salter and Mary Eva Burch Salter. Mrs. Goodman was a graduate of GA Southern University. She met her husband, Jerry, while teaching in Saint Simons Island, GA, where he was serving in the Navy. Meg taught in Georgia until she and Jerry moved to Mooresville where she taught until her retirement in 2008. She was a dedicated teacher who educated innumerable students within the Mooresville Graded School District. The title she held most dear was that of “Gigi” to her four grandchildren. She was a very active member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, Mooresville, and she loved her church family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Gerald “Jerry” Goodman and a brother, Hubert Salter, Jr. Mrs. Goodman is survived by her daughters, Kate Goodman Hubbard (Zack), of McLeansville, NC, and Tracy Goodman Rhoney (Jonathan), of Charlotte; brother, Michael Salter (Wynell), of Georgia; sister, Beth West (Ted), of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren, Caroline Hubbard, Lauren Rhoney, Landon Rhoney and Grant Hubbard and numerous nieces and nephews . Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Broad Street United Methodist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Mike McDonald and Rev. Thomas Schnitzlein officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to thank the staff of Twin Lakes Memory Care for the incredible love and care they provided to Meg over the last year. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broad Street United Methodist Church, 355 S. Broad St., Mooresville, NC or Twin Lakes Memory Care, Residence Assistance Fund, 3810 Heritage Dr., Burlington, NC 27215. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family of Mrs. Goodman.
