Russell served in the U.S. Army, and retired as a truck driver in 1994, from Ranger, where he was a member of the Million Mile Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Ella Kuhener Garner; daughters, Chambra (John) Pickens and Peggy (Danny) Compton; sons, Loren Garner (Tina Hines) and Sam Garner; sister, Dorothy Miller; one brother, Herbert Garner; grandchildren, James Dilly, Sossity Young, Russell Cotrell, Joshua (Emuriel) Compton, Samantha Garner, Lorann (Elvis) Sandor, Jessica Compton, Ben Compton, Katie Garner, Jake Garner, Kelsi Garner, and Emi Garner; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kathy Landsaw. Mr. Garner was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Dean Garner and Eugene Garner; and one sister, Catherine Nichols.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive, with funeral services at 1:30 p.m., in the funeral home with Pastor Dave Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by Lawton-Byrum Post 972 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will be at a later date in Dunlap Cemetery. Online condolences can be left at:
