On March 24, 1890, the commissioner of Pensions for New Hampshire notified the US Pension Agency that Bolina had passed away. Some transcripts of Vermont death records record her name as Bolina (Hines) McEwen. Her illness and death were noted in the Hinesburgh section of the Burlington Weekly Free Press on January 24, 1890.
