George Joseph McElwrath Jr., 78, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. George was born June 10, 1938, in Arlington to George McElwrath Sr. and Ila Tickle McElwrath. He married JoAnn Hager on Dec. 6, 1956. They would have been married 60 years this December. He worked for Harbison Fisher, Vandervoorts Dairy, Tex Star Plastic, Justin Boot, and 20 at Miller Brewery. George was a Mason; he belonged to the Deer Creek Mason Lodge 510 in Everman. He was preceded in death by his, father, George McElwrath Sr.; mother, Ila McElwrath; grandson, Daryl McElwrath Jr.; brothers-in-law, Vernor Hood, Farris Hendricks; Sister Esperance Hutchison: and beloved Scottish terrier, Boss.
Survivors: Wife, JoAnn McElwrath; children, Connie Rogers and husband, John, Daryl McElwrath and wife, Kathy, Billy McElwrath and wife, Linda; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Hood, Mary Johnson and husband, Charles,; aunt, Julia Cornwell; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
