He moved to St. Paul in 1945 and graduated from Wilson High School in 1952. Homer enlisted in the Army in 1953, and after completing the Army's Security Agency Training School, he served in the Army Security Agency, including serving in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and attended the University of Minnesota. Afterwards, Homer married Jacqueline Aras in St. Paul.
He was employed with the Bechtel Corporation from 1964 to 1995. Homer worked both stateside and oversees, retiring as Construction Manager from Bechtel. Even though retired, he continued as a consultant with Bechtel. Homer loved and served the Lord by spreading the Word to everyone he met and through his service in the church. His main hobby was his daily reading and studying of the Bible.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Ida Sherman; his brothers, Roger, Earl, Ben, and Maury; and sisters Annabelle and Grace.
Homer is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline; daughter, JaNae (Audie) Uy; granddaughters: Julia and Chloe Uy; brother, Lee; sisters: Blanch and Gayle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial in the Hillside Cemetery of Angora.
