Robert Ferrell “Babe” Armstrong, Sr., a resident of Abbeville, died Friday morning, February 10, 2017, in a Dothan hospital. He was 95.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 12, 2017, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ray S. Reiley and Reverend Teddy Ward officiating.

Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M Sunday at the mortuary.

Mr. Armstrong was born and reared in Henry County, son of the late William Perry Armstrong and A Z Barnett Armstrong.

He lived in Abbeville all his adult lifetime.

Mr. Armstrong was retired as a building contractor in residential construction.

He was a member of the Union Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Helton Armstrong, two sisters, Eudine Mathison and Rena Herndon, and three brothers, Hiram Armstrong, Harold Armstrong and Lowell Armstrong.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Kaye Armstrong Brown (Ronnie), Shorterville; and Starla Armstrong Hartley (George), Ft. Gaines, GA; a son, Robert F. Armstrong, Jr. (Debbie), Dothan; a sister, Jean Culpepper, Troy, formerly of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Jonathan Ballard (Charlotte), Jake Adams (Amanda), Tyler Adams, Tamra Maughon (Nick), and Vince Armstrong (Kara); seven great-grandchildren.

Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons and nephews.
