Alberta was the second child born to Lewis John Jackson and his wife, Margaret Mae Harrington.

She attended public schools until she had to leave her education sometime during her high school years in order to help her ailing mother.

Due to some marital problems, the couple separated but never divorced nor reconciled.

Together they had two sons and 3 daughters.

Alberta became seriously ill with bone cancer which contributed to her death. Her burial was officiated by the Rev. John Johnson.
