James Myers was born in Ripley County in 1800 the son of Lewis and Catherine Susan Cooper Myers. He married Sarah Kinnett and they had 10 children: Jackson, Tipton T., Caleb Theodore, Harrison T., John Newton, William L., America (John M. Cummings; Indiana (F. M.Sibbitt); Zerua or Mary Ruth (John Tyler); Mary R. (William Roberts).
