Mr. Albert Louis Breeland, age 88 years, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017.

Albert was born in Biloxi, MS on February 19, 1928. He is the son of Hubert Little Breeland and Mary Jane Goulas Grasso Breeland. He attended the Biloxi Public Schools and graduated from Biloxi High School in August of 1950 after completing a tour in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1949.

After receiving his B.S. degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1953, he worked for Standard Oil of California in New Orleans until 1954. In 1954, he married Nancy L. Swetman and they moved together to Chattanooga, TN where he worked as a teller at the main branch of the Hamilton County National Bank. In 1957 he was promoted to assistant manager of the Red Bank branch. In 1957 he began work at the Peoples Bank in Biloxi. By the time he had retired in 1995 he had become Vice President.

Albert was a member of several organization and activities including: Metropolitan Dinner Club, Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Biloxi Chamber of Commerce, Volunteer Biloxi Regional Medical Center, Easter Seal Society Volunteer, USM Alumni Association, Gulf Coast Carnival Association, Order of Mithras Carnival Association, Seafood Industry Museum, Gulf Coast Opera Theatre, Biloxi Little Theatre, Gulfport Little Theatre, Center Stage, Miramar Garden Club and the Biloxi Council of Garden Clubs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert L. Breeland and Mary Jane Goulas; sister, Mercedes (John) Yallourakis; and brothers, Harry (Diana) Breeland and Carroll (Lucille) Breeland.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Swetman Breeland; daughter, Rebecca C. Breeland (Don) Jones; son, Read H. Breeland; brother, Alfred (Renee) Breeland; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Krista) Lamar Breeland, Christopher Read Breeland, Zackery Louis (Samantha) Breeland, Baylee Jean Breeland, Jared Isaac Jones and Jesse Aaron Jones; and seven great grandchildren.

Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Friends are invited to visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
