David L. Carnaghi, age 75, of Edwardsville, Illinois, died at 1:03 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at his residence.

He was born on March 4, 1941, in Edwardsville, the son of the late James & Vida (Straub) Carnaghi.

David was retired from the Edwardsville Fire Department after 30 years of service.

He married Barbara J. Israel on September 9, 1959, in Murphysboro, Illinois. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, David Carnaghi & husband Todd Weeks of St. Louis, Todd Carnaghi of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one daughter, Monica Carnaghi Reising of Edwardsville; four grandchildren, Kyle, Katherine, Kacee Carnaghi, Joshua Reising; and two sisters, Sharon Farley of Livingston, Illinois, Bonnie McNeil & husband Frank also of Livingston.

David worked as an Illinois High School and NCAA Football and Basketball Official for many years, and was inducted into the Illinois High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 2011.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville, with Pastor Michael Walther & Rev. John Shank officiating.

Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery in Alhambra, Illinois.
