Thelma "Shorty" Morse, age 81, of Aledo, IL, formerly of Viola, IL, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo. Services are 11:30 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2012, at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, Silvis. Visitation is 10 a.m. until time of service at Fippinger's. Memorials may be left to the Advanced Medical Transport in Aledo.
She was born January 9, 1931 in Marshalltown, IA to Gilbert and Edna Allen Minteer. She married Fred Lantau in 1946.
Shorty was employed at Rasty's in Aledo, did housekeeping, sold Avon products and was employed by Vern Nelson at the Viola machine shop. She loved her animals.
Survivors include her children: Diane (Mike) Baugher; Ricky (Tammy) Lantau, both of Aledo, IL; Fred (Donna) Lantau; Bill (Deb) Lantau, both of Monmouth, IL; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; special friend: Tim Morgan; and one brother: Clarence Lester.
