This Burial is just south of the Franklin - Williamson County line. It is South of Thompsonville IL on the west side of the road. It is on rather high ground a little higher than the road and is the only stone there. It is close enough to the road that you could see it in the Winter. According to a local farmer, James Eldridge Fortner was coming home from the war (Civil War) trying to reach his home after being injured or sick.
