Nathaniel William Sherman is the 5th child of Carder Sherman & Sarah Jane (Chandler). He was born on Mar. 12, 1858 in South Kingstown, RI. Nathaniel married Etta (Montgormery/Montgomery). They later divorced.

Mr. Sherman was a stonecutter for 65 years in his own business. He last worked in 1932. No Social Security is listed on his death record.

On Dec. 31, 1939, Nathaniel died at home on 24 Shaeffer St., Peace Dale, RI. Mr. Sherman passed away at 1. am. He died at the age of 81 years, 9 months, & 14 days.

Albert C. Henry, M.D., of 20 Pleasant St., Wickford, RI, attended Nathaniel from Sep. 1938-Dec. 1939. He last saw him alive on Dec. 26, 1939. Nathaniel's cause of death is listed as cerebral hemorrhage with a date of onset Dec. 24, 1939. Other contributory causes of his death are: chronic arteriosclerosis, chronic prostitis, & chronic cystitis. An autopsy was not performed. Clinical tests were used to confirm diagnosis.

Informant is his daughter, Mrs. Harold F. O'Brien, Peace Dale. Funeral Director is John J. Forbes & Bros. Lic. #103. The embalmer is John J. Forbes, Lic. #473.
