Son of John and Ysidora (Pico) Forster, his mother was from one of the pioneer founding families of Southern California. Nephew of California Governor Pio Pico . Husband of Guadalupe (Avila) Forster. From his obituary in the Los Angeles Herald, Aug. 20, 1904:

"FORSTER - In this city, August 19, 1904, Marcos A. Forster, aged 65 years. Funeral services will be held at Capistrano, Monday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m."

"Marcos Forster was born on the old court house site on Court street between Spring and Main streets in 1839. He received his education at private schools and early joined his brother in the purchase of the great properties, the Santa Margarita and the Los Flores ranchos, situated about 40 miles north of San Diego. Marcos married Dona Guadalupe, daughter of Don Juan Abila, of San Juan. Six children were born to them, four boys and two girls. After the sale of the original ranchos to Dick O'Neill, Rancho San Juan Capistrano was purchased and the surviving children of the decedent, with one exception, still live in that vicinity."
