Donald S. Geresy, 88, of Bridgman, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at West Woods of Bridgman Nursing Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Starks and Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor David Stout officiating. Don was born on March 1, 1928, to Steven & Leona (Bulza) Geresy in Gary, IN. All through his life he had been an athlete. Don earned a football scholarship, where he starred as the quarterback, while attending college at North Central University in Illinois. He also pitched and played center field for the Cubs Farm League. If any sport had a ball, Don probably played it. He also had a passion for hunting and fishing.
Don is survived by his girlfriend, Donna Neuendorf of Stevensville; children, Penny (Kenneth) Gelander of Chelsea, MI, Debbie (Daniel) Bell of Kalamazoo, MI, Dawn (Larry) Romelhardt of Ann Arbor, MI and Nickie Cappella of Pittsburgh, PA. Don is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrea, Morgan, Kenny, Alexis, Giovanni, Paige and Mira; great-grandchild, Lucas; brother, Larry Geresy of Bellaire, MI; and sister Dorothy Randall of Kalamazoo, MI.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Marilyn Fowler.
