Lorna Arlene Bartels was born to Paul and Bertha (Holtmeier) Meyer on April 21, 1922, in Daykin, and passed away on December 29, 2016, in Fairbury, at the age of 94 years, eight months and eight days.

Lorna was baptized May 28, 1922, by Pastor E. O. Potratz at Zion Lutheran Church. She received her education at Zion Lutheran School in Tobias, and was confirmed on April 5, 1936 at Zion Lutheran Church.
Lorna was joined together in holy matrimony to Martin Bartels on April 26, 1942, by Pastor C. F. Schrein at Zion Lutheran Church. God blessed them with four daughters.

Sewing, making quilts, quilting, flowers and gardening were her favorite hobbies. She was a 4-H leader for many years and was active in the community and church. Lorna had perfect attendance at Ladies Aid for 45 years, and served on various committees. She enjoyed decorating cakes and the grandchildren always received one for their birthdays.

She was preceded in death by her husband, martin; her parents, brother, Dale; brothers-in-laww and sisters-in-law, Waddell Weber, Viola and Vern Reetz, Erwing and Nadean Bartels, Bernard and Deloras Bartels and Glen Phingsten.

Survivors include daughters, Linda (Ed) Kotas, Ardell (Richard) Endorf, Diane (Alan) Krupicka and Arlene (Charles) Filipi; several grandchildren and their spouses, Greg (Amy) Kotas, Darin(Cindy) Kotas, Rick (Tracy) Endorf, Joel (Sarah) Endorf, Kristina (Cody) Jess, Jason (Cindy) Krupicka, Laura (Josh) Pollock, Jennifer Filipi, and Aaron (Brittany) Filipi; 25 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Weber; sisters-in-law, Charice Meyer and Berniece Pfingsten.

Funeral services were conducted from the Zion Lutheran Church in Tobias on Monday, January 2 with Pastor Ryan Meyer officiating. Janile Campbell accompanied the congregation who sang "Jesus Lead Thou On," "What a Friend We have in Jesus," and "Abide with Me."

Casket bearers were Greg Kotas, Darin Kotas, Rick Endorf, Joel Endorf, Jason Krupicka and Aaron Filipi. Honorary bearers were Kristina Jess, Laura Pollock and Jennifer Filipi.

Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
