The service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the John W. Keffer Funeral Home Inc., 902 Mount Rose Ave., York. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hess was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Chester County. He was the son of the late Ira D. and Cora A. (Ellis) Hess.
He retired as a letter pressman from Maple Press Co. and also retired from York City School District as a custodian.
A member of Asbury United Methodist Church, he belonged to Victory Athletic Association, Viking Athletic Association and Liberty Social Club.
Mr. Hess also is survived by three sons, Daniel Hess of Rome, Ga., Randy L. Hess and Jamie L. Hess, both of York; a daughter, Adonna Hess of York; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Hess of Dover; a sister, Ruth Billet of York; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald N. Hess.
Officiating at the service will be his pastors, the Rev. Mark S. Jordan and the Rev. David P. McCullough.
