Alvin was a Veteran of the U.S. Naval Service – Coast Guard and was of Protestant faith. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and camping.
He is survived by his wife Irene Carter of Bourbonnais; four sons Tom (Sue) Carter of San Antonio, TX, John (Dorothy) Carter of Highland Park, Matthew Carter of Wheeling and Jay (Chris) DeMent of Baltimore, MD; one daughter Judy DeMent of Bourbonnais; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Along with his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Patrick and Danny Carter, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 5-7pm at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11am at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
