Michael J. Curran died suddenly at his residence on Kiowa Street of heart disease. The deceased was a resident of Ireland and came to Fort Leavenworth in 1844. He was engaged in blacksmithing and, at one time, had been the proprietor of the Grant House on Cherokee and Seventh streets. His last business venture was in Topeka.
Mr. Carran was sixty-five years old and universally respected.
As he is often called, Uncle Joe was a member of the Odd Fellows. He leaves a wife but no children.
