BUCHANAN - A. Jean Baber, 89, of Buchanan, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, with her family by her side.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Buchanan Christian Church, with Pastor Nathan Babcock officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior from 2-4 PM. Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Buchanan Christian Church, 112 W. 3rd St., Buchanan, MI 49107; or to Hanson Hospice Center, 4382 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, MI 49127. Jean was born on June 5, 1927, to the late Albert and Ethel Nelson in Newberry, MI. On June 19, 1946, she married Ardannie “Day” Baber. Jean worked for several places in Buchanan before starting her career at Electro-Voice where she retired. She was a longtime devoted member of Buchanan Christian Church. Her garden was her solace and she enjoyed tending to her chickens, shopping, QVC, Bible studies and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Jean is survived by her children, Dan (Connie) Baber of Buchanan, Bill (Sue) Baber of Berrien Springs and Nelson (Lori) Baber of Buchanan; brother, George Nelson; sister-in-law, Pauline Nelson; brother-in-law, Roy (Phyllis) Baber; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Day Baber; daughters, Jeanette Wagner and Jeannie Thurston; sisters, Helen, Beatrice, Thelma and Gladys; brothers, Buddy, John and Bob; and two great-grandchildren.
