He married Juanita Hagerty in Houston, Texas on April 4, 1942. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of First United Methodist Church in Sealy for many years. He retired from Cameron Iron Works in Houston after 38 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Patricia Ann Sampson.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Juanita Wiechmann; daughter, Alice Gaines and husband, Charles; one brother; grandchildren, Christopher Gaines of wife Erin of Cedar Park, Texas, Amber Sampson Tierney and husband Carl of Orlando, Florida; and great grandchildren, Taylor Leigh Gaines, Caden Christopher Gaines, Gaberella Tierney and Elliott Tierney.
Graveside services were held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11:00 at Sealy Cemetery with burial following. Rev. Curtis Matthys of First United Methodist Church served as officiant.
