Hazel L. Collier Pindell, 89, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at her home.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Hazel was the last surviving child of the late James Bard and Iva Cooper Myers. A programmer, she retired from the Claermount County Treasurer’s Office where she worked in data processing for over 30 years. Hazel was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of the Order of Eastern Star Linden Chapter #348 in Marathon, Ohio. She moved from Batavia, Ohio to the Spring City community in 1996.

Hazel was preceded in death by her companion of 45 years John Warriner Hughes and daughter-in-law Kathryn Collier.

She is survived by her son Robert B. Collier of Cohutta, Georgia, grandchildren Elizabeth (Ray) Boritzki of Omaha, Nebraska, David (Jen) Collier of Chester, Connecticut and Chris (Aly) Collier of Rocky Face, Georgia and great grandchildren Gabrielle, Beau, Griffin, Michael Robert, Charlotte Kathryn, Reagan, Sophie, Pierson and Sawyer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Agee officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home. Interment will be Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the Varnell Cemetery in Varnell, Georgia.

Arrangements are by Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City.
