Geneva F. Rainey, 86, went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2017. After a long battle with multiple health issues she passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation is Friday, January 27, 2017 from 9-11am, service at 11:00 at Wynndale Baptist Church, 11287 Springridge Rd. Terry, MS. Interment will follow at 3pm at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Hattiesburg, MS.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother Dan B. and Inez Furr and her brother Dan B. Furr, Jr., all of Brookhaven, MS.

She is survived by her most precious husband of 66 years and love of her life, Dewey Rainey, Jr.; three children, Dwain (Helen) Rainey, Kay (Bobby) Richardson and Peggy (Shelton “Shot”) McDaniel; one sister, Jody Ward and niece Deborah Ward; six grandchildren, Doyen (Dedra) Rainey, Allan (Jessica) Rainey, Stephanie Roland, Jason Miller, Shawn (Betsy) McDaniel, Lauren (John) Cox; 13 great grandchildren.

She has been a long time active member of Wynndale Baptist Church. She was an Eastern Star member and past Worthy Matron. An accomplished and outstanding artist,

Mrs. Rainey was a member and served in many capacities with the MS Artist Guild. She obtained her Registered Nursing (RN) degree in 1971 after returning to school at the age of 41 and nursed those in need for 30 years. Her service is acknowledged by a memorial stone in the Mary E. Stanton Center for Nursing Garden.

The family will dearly miss their beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and they give special thanks to her caregivers.
