Harris Fieselmann, 88, of Berger, MO passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the New Haven Care Center.

Harris was born in Etlah, Missouri on April 24, 1928, a son to the late Henry and Agnes Fieselmann.

Harris worked for many years of his life. In his younger years he was a farmer, then retired from Metalcraft Enterprises in New Haven, MO after many years of employment. After retirement, he continued working part-time in the produce department at Wal-Mart in Washington, MO. His hard work and dedication to his job was admired by many.

The most important and well known aspect of Harris' life was no doubt being a volunteer firefighter for the Berger Fire Department and the Missouri State Fair Fire Department. If you knew Harris, he was always willing to talk about the Fire Department. Whether it was about all of the fundraising he was a part of after being one of the first members who started the department back in 1953, or getting to buy a new truck or piece of equipment, his eyes lit up as soon as someone asked him about the department. For over two weeks every August, Harris used all of his vacation days to work as a volunteer firefighter at the Missouri State Fair Fire Department. He was a member of the FFAM (Fire Fighters Association of Missouri) and of the Franklin County Bomb and Arson Squad. Harris was also one of the beginning members who helped start the ENS (Emergency Numbering System) for our 911 area.

Harris was a mason of the Scottish Rite and of the New Haven Masonic Lodge. He was also a Shriner, where he sponsored 2 children to get medical help at the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis.

Harris is survived by a granddaughter, Lauren Schaefer of Tampa, FL, and was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Schaefer and a brother, Harold Fieselmann. Harris is also survived by 5 stepchildren, who he raised like they were his own; Dawn Bailey of New Haven, MO; Tim Richardson of Moweaqua, IL; Renee Richardson of New Haven, MO; Sandy Richardson of New Haven, MO and Herb Richardson of Gerald, MO. Of these children there are 12 step-grandchildren who will miss their grandpa. He is also survived by two sisters; Rose Marie Bollinger of St. Louis, MO and Anna Mae Owens of Gerald, MO; by three nieces; Sherry Downing of Des Moines, IA; Suzette Brown of Huntsville, AL; Lynn Cloven of Burlington, IA and one nephew, Dwain Bollinger of St. Louis, MO.

A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Berger Fire House in Berger, MO. A private burial is planned at a later date at St. John's Cemetery in Berger, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for burial expenses and to the Berger Fire Department.
