Elmer Dean Keen, 87, died Wednesday (Jan. 17, 2007).
He was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Lincoln, to Martin and Helen Keen. He grew up near McCook and graduated from high school in 1939.
He was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy and a distinguised pilot and instructor. He retired after 27 years of service. He then served as a Sky Marshall and Customs Agent, living in Kingwood, Texas for 28 years.
He was preceded in death by his two children, Anne Catherine and Dean Edward and parents, Helen and Martin Keen.
He is survived by wife, Nita of 60 years; one grandson; daughter-in-law, Brenda; and siblings, Wallace of McCook, Warren of Denver, Cletus of Hacienda Hills, Calif., Janice Breinig of Arapahoe and Truman of Omaha.
Funeral services were held on Monday, 12:30 p.m., at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. Interment followed at Brookside Memorial Park.
