Max Martin Achleman, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Born March 23, 1928 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Martin) Achleman.

After graduating from South Side High School, he was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

Max was a draftsman/engineer with International Harvester/Navistar for 40 years, from which he retired. An active lifelong Presbyterian, having attended Westminster and most currently, Grace Presbyterian, he served in many roles such as deacon, usher and many other committees. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, South Side “Has Beens”, and International Harvester “Heroes”. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed gardening and landscaping.

Surviving are his daughters, Margaret Fish and Anne Achleman, both of Fort Wayne, Ellen (Patrick) Felts of Austin, Texas, and Nancy (Ron) Leef of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Ross (Megan) Giuffre, Colin (Farida) Stark, Max (Darla) Felts, Emily (Eric) (Felts) Reynolds, Kristen (Nick) Minnich, Alyssa (Jeff) Remster, and Jackson Leef; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Hurter) Achleman.

Funeral Service will be 10:30am on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1811 Fairhill Dr., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Robert Brown officiating.

Calling will also be from 3-7pm on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne.
