Carl D. "Brother Atkinson ," 68 , of The Villages, Fla., died peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice on March 29. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Pat (Johnston) Atkinson . He was born June 17,1947 in Marion, Ind. to Claude and Kathryn Atkinson . Both preceded him in death.

Predeceased by sister Janice Gaskin and brother Mike Atkinson . Also survived by: son Jeff, his wife Johanna, and their children Kate and Kaelyn; daughter Diane, her husband Dan, and their children Seth (Kara) and Stephanie; twin brother Beryl (Debbie) Atkinson and sister Kay (Bob) King; sister-in-law Marcia Atkinson , brother-in-law Ronnie Johnston, and many nieces and nephews.

The deceased's family was his greatest joy in life. He had a strong faith in God and was appreciative of his church family. He also enjoyed living in the villages, playing golf, and spending time with his beloved dog Maggie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
