Michael “Mike” Adkins, 69, of Waynesboro, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Avante at Waynesboro. He was born in Cedar Grove, West Virginia, on January 23, 1947, son of the late Woodrow W. Adkins and Mildred Adkins.

Mike was an Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Era, where he served with the 101st Airborne Division (The Screaming Eagles). He loved fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dee Ann Adkins; one brother, Bruce Adkins and two sisters, Gloria Phillips and Mary Hager.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann Parr Adkins; three sons, Benny Adkins, Edward Adkins and Mike Adkins, Jr.; one daughter, Jodi Denton; eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; one brother, Randall Adkins; two brothers-in-law, Wade Parr and Jerry Parr and one sister-in-law, Sue Clowers. He also left behind his beloved dog, “Tinker”.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the Chapel of the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, conducted by Pastor Dale Huff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service, 2:00 PM.
