Patricia, or "Pat" was born August 25, 1931 in Del Rio, Texas to Ogarita "Bergine" and Homer M. Wilson. She was raised on the Homer Wilson ranch, which later became part of Big Bend National Park, Texas. She attended grade school at Alpine, Texas, and graduated from Del Rio High School. She was educated at Stephens College and Missouri University, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Missouri. She married her first husband William Cason and was the mother of their four children. She was also married to Grant Clothier and was the stepmother to his six children. Patricia taught at Loretto, Kansas City Academy, and Ozanam Schools. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Patricia helped to build and run the Deer Creek Camp for underprivileged children. She was a teacher, artist, and author of the book, "Beneath the Window: Early Ranch Life in the Texas Big Bend Country."
