Alfie was such a sweet English Cocker Spaniel. He wasn't as inventive as Tuppence was, but Alfie could learn the tricks we taught him where Tuppence chose not to do. Alfie learned to "Speak" when we gave him a hand signal. Then, we taught him to "Sneeze" also using hand signals. He was very motivated by treats and when he thought he was going to get a treat, he began running through all the tricks we had taught him. For instance, if we were having a snack we began to notice Alfie "Sneezing" on his own, without a cue from us. If that wasn't working, he'd begin "Speaking" expecting to get a treat. He'd do this when we'd have guests. They'd ask us what's wrong with Alfie, does he have a cold? We would then realize Alfie was performing, hoping to get a treat! Alfie can never be replaced and we are honored to have been able to include him in our lives.
