He was born Dec. 5, 1933, in Lincoln, a son of Fred Sr. and Hannah Emmett Jurgens. He married Betty Grigsby on March 19, 1954, in Springfield. She survives.
Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Wapella; a brother, Kenneth, Shoals, Ind.; a sister, Karen Vaughn, Springfield; a stepbrother, Jim Blend, Arrowsmith; and two stepsisters, Nancy Remmers, Weldon, and Patty Sunderland, Clinton.
Two brothers and his mother preceded him in death.
Mr. Jurgens served during the Korean Conflict in the Army.
He worked for 38 years at Caterpillar Co. in Morton.
Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin.
