Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 23, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with Rev. Paul C. McManus & Deacon Jim Patera officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. on Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.
Parish Scripture Service: 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

Barbara June Vanter was born on February 2, 1930 in Dundee, Iowa, the daughter of Marian Johannah Vanter. Barb was raised by her grandparents, Ed & Hannah Vanter. She graduated from Strawberry Point High School in the Class of 1947. Barb was united in marriage to John Andrew Schulmeister on June 30, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. She dedicated her life to caring for her family. Barb and John enjoyed many summers at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin with their friends and family. Barb also enjoyed genealogy, crocheting, gambling, making crafts, going to coffee with friends and spending time with her family, especially the little ones. Barb was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Rosary Society where she previously served as secretary, treasurer and as a group leader. She also previously served as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader.
