Lena Pannell Alexander, 92, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 1997 at Community Hospital. Born in Gladys, Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Glynia Pannell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alexander, Sr. and son, Robert Alexander, Jr.

She joined the Hill Street Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. D. R. Powell.

She is survived by her daughter, Fannie Lee Watson; her son, Carl Lewis; and a daughter-in-law, Roberta Alexander, all of Roanoke; 15 grandchildren; two devoted granddaughters, Danna Watson (Warren) Casey of Roanoke and Angelena E. Watson of Hampton; 20 great-grandchildren; cousins, other relatives and friends, and a devoted friend, Callie Stewart.

Funeral services will be at the graveside in Williams Memorial Park, on Friday, March 21, 1997 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. J. Eugene Young officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 20, 1997, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel.
