LaJean Mae (Robertson Diacon) Shannon, of Ada (formerly Perkins), OK passed away on January 14, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, OK. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Mill Creek, OK on Wednesday January 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM officiated by Rev. Kenneth McCarthick and Rev. Mike Cannon. Burial will follow at Troy Cemetery in Troy, OK immediately following the service. There will be a visitation on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at DeArman Funeral Home in Sulphur from 6 to 7 PM. Services are under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur, OK.

She was born on April 4, 1923 in Paden, OK. She attended school at Mason, OK but had to stop her education due to a debilitating illness her mother acquired and stayed home to take care of the family. On May 31, 1940 she married Elbie Vernon Shannon in Wewoka, OK. In 1960, she and her husband built and operated Lawnview Nursing Home in Tishomingo, OK. During this period of her life she went back to school and got her certification as a Nursing Home Administrator. They later owned and operated Burgerland Restraunt in Davis, OK. They then retired and moved to Perkins, OK where they lived for most of the remaining years.

She accepted Christ in 1954. She was baptized and joined the Emanuel Baptist Church in Davis. In 1955, she began serving in her church as a teacher especially with children ministries. Shortly after joining the church they moved to Tishomingo where they volunteered to go to Bullard Chapel and start a Baptist Mission and this is now a flourishing church and doing well. After three years at Bullard Mission they moved membership back to Tishomingo First Baptist Church and remained there until moving back to Davis and finally Perkins, but were always active in church wherever they were.

LaJean was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather - LaVelle (Morgan) and George Diacon; father - Oatha Ray Robertson; her husband Elbie Shannon; Son - Frankie Shannon;
Daughter in law - Diana Shannon; Son in law - Bobby Hudgens; 3 sisters - Georgia Austin, Treva Pruitt, Loretta Goodin; brother - Glen Diacon, and 2 infant brothers. She is survived by a daughter - Andrea Hudgens of Ada; 2 sons and daughters in law - Clay Shannon and wife Barbara of Wynnewood, Ron Shannon and wife Linda of Wynnewood; daughter in law - Judy Shannon; 3 sisters - Susie Miller, Barbara Huckleberry, and Joan Osborn; brother - James Robertson; sister in law - Frances Diacon; 8 grandchildren and spouses - Terry Shannon, Sheryl Keck and husband Randy, Kyle R. Shannon, Tracy Shannon, Lewis Shannon and wife Stacy, Shelby Hudgens and wife Sarah, Christin Yarbrough and husband Jason, J. Kyle Shannon and wife Allison; 41 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
