Funeral Service at Union Valley Baptist Church, Cookietown, OK at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2017, Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK, under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.
Wilda Jean Abbe was born to Clemmie and Faye (Strickland) Abbe on October 10, 1949, at Walters, OK, and departed this life on January 14, 2017, at Greenville, TX, at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 4 days.
Wilda grew up south of Walters and attended both Walters and Temple Schools, graduating from THS in 1967. She worked at Haggar Slacks in Temple and even worked in a New York office for a year, but has made her home in Texas most of her adult life, living in the Dallas area where she was employed by General Telephone for a time and then went to Southwestern Bell, later AT&T. After working as a lineman, installer, and splicer, Wilda retired in 2000 as a contract coordinator after 20 years with the company. She moved from The Colony to Commerce, TX and worked for a time as a supervisor for OKTEX Utility Construction.
Through the years she enjoyed fishing, playing golf and dominos, and loved her cats. She was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Faye and Clemmie Abbe; and her sister, Margaret (Abbe) Hilton.
Survivors include 3 sisters, Mary Adams of Burkburnett, TX, Carla Phillips and husband Jerry of Walters, OK, Ella Chambers and husband Jim of Auburn, WA; her brother, Howard Abbe of Paris, TX; her nieces and nephews, Sheila and Cory Alsobrook of Royse City, TX, Greg and Christina Hilton of Caddo Mills, TX, Donna and Jerry Simmons of Powderly, TX, Debbie and Geneo Abbe of Panhandle, TX, Michelle and Tyrone Muldowney of Lawton, OK, Stephanie Brown of Walters, OK, Christine and Jeremy Shilley of Spanaway, WA; many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
