Lucinda E. Beckmann of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the age of 96. Lucinda was born to Friedrich and Martha Roesler Bartels on November 28, 1920. She grew up on a dairy farm near Tobias.

Upon graduation from high school, she attended Kearney State Teachers College. Because of the shortage of teachers during World War II, she was asked to teach elementary children in Clinton, Iowa before earning her degree. After the war, she taught at St. John Lutheran School in Seward and completed her bachelor's degree at Concordia College. She later earned her master's degree from the University of Nebraska.

Lucinda taught at St. John's for thirty-four years and also served on the staff of Concordia College. Lucinda married Milton Beckmann in 1983. They spent their time traveling around the country and abroad, visiting extended family, working in their church, and enjoying their yard.

After Milton's death in 1990, Lucinda continued to be active and pursue lots of interests. She was connected to the families of her nephews and nieces, as well as to the Beckmann family. She was committed to preserving the environment, and she wrote letters to her political representatives about issues that were important to her. She was a lifelong learner and was always ready to experience something new.

Lucinda was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Frederick Bartels and his wife Irene; sisters, Wilma and Marie and their husbands Harold Jordening and Kenneth Francis; and brother-in- law, Art Schoenbeck.

She is survived by: sister, Lois Schoenbeck; seven nephews; nine nieces; their thirty children and grandchildren; and the family of Milton Beckmann, including four children and their two surviving spouses, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Private burial at Wyuka Cemetery. Memorial service on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Lincoln.
